PADUA, Italy — Volunteers from different religious and cultural backgrounds joined forces in Padua for a neighbourhood cleanup on 4 October 2026.
Working together, Scientology Volunteer Ministers and volunteers news european commission from Padua's Muslim, Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities collected around 50 kilograms of discarded materials near the city's railway station.
The volunteers concentrated their efforts around the railway overpass, an area affected by recurring waste disposal.
The latest cleanup followed other examples of joint neighbourhood cleanups involving different communities in Padua.
Similar activities were organised in September, including cleanups around Via Rubaltelli and the Stanga neighbourhood.
Beyond the immediate environmental benefits, these activities illustrate how people with different beliefs can cooperate on issues of common concern.
Established by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, the international Volunteer Ministers programme encourages people to assist others and address difficulties in their communities.
For Ivan Arjona, the Church of Scientology's representative to European and international institutions, the initiative reflects the importance of civic responsibility and mutual respect.
"Respect for different beliefs becomes especially meaningful when it is accompanied by cooperation," Arjona said.
The Padua initiative reflects the broader value of cooperation among citizens regardless of religion or cultural origin.
The Church of Scientology maintains churches, missions and groups throughout Europe, with members participating in initiatives involving education, drug prevention, human rights and community betterment.
